Movie Review : Shaurya Review
Expectations were definitely nonexistent when I entered the multiplex, to catch some sleep. Oops to watch Shaurya. Last week’s release One Two Three had prepared me to take on any movie and leave the theater mentally sound. So I said to myself,” Bring on what you have Samar Khan(director of Shaurya) and I am ready to face it”.
Five minutes into Shaurya : “Ok, another of those patriotic army movies. Get ready for some preaching, Amit”
Ten minutes into Shaurya : ” Oh! So they are aping A Few Good Men, this time round. Time to find some sleep.”
Fifteen minutes into Shaurya : “Is it really getting interesting? Or am I hallucinating”
Twenty Minutes Into Shaurya : “The movie has me hooked.”
Shaurya Movie Story
Officer Javed Khan has been accused of killing his senior officer, Major Rathore. The lethargic fun loving officer Major Siddhant(Rahul Bose) has been entrusted with defending Javed. What Siddhant thought would just be a sight seeing and para gliding experience in the valleys of Srinagar turns out to be a life changing experience.

Movie Review : Three Men And A Baby
Just caught up with this wonderful comedy, Three Men And A Baby, directed by Leonard Nimoy. I had this dvd for quite a while but had just kept it in on the shelf. I do not know what prompted me to catch this flick, but whatever did, I am really happy that I caught up with this movie.
Three Men And A Baby Movie Story
Jack, Michael and Peter are three happy go lucky friends. Every thing’s going nice and jolly until one day, two unexpected parcels arrive at their doorstep. One is a cradle with a baby in it and the other parcel has a drugs in it. Suddenly their lives take a full 360 degree turn. With the responsibility of a baby ( who they are clueless how to manage) and with the police and goons after them for the drugs, what you can expect is one comic journey.
The movie is so appropriately tagged : ” They changed her diapers, she changed their lives”

Movie Review : Naqaab
Caught up with Abbas Mustaan’s Naqaab yesterday. 2 hours and out of the theatre, I must say other than the rather unusual twist towards the end which I failed to perceive, the mmovie was pretty much bad. I thought that yes, the directors did thread a dangerous path with the script and I did appreciate that. Although it’s execution being pretty much bad. But when i did a bit of googling on the net I realised the movie was simply a lame copy of the Hollywood thriller Dot The I. So that was it, no points to Naqaab for the script too.
Check out my complete review of Naqaab and how I rate the movie. Do pop in your criticism and views of the film too.

Life In A Metro Movie Review
Star Cast : Shiney Ahuja, Shilpa Shetty, Irrfan Khan, Konkana Sen Sharma, Kay Kay Menon, Kangna Ranaut, Sharman Joshi, Nafisa Ali, Dharmendra.
Movie Runtime : 140 min.
The film’s promos describe the movie as a story of countless emotions. Love, sex, faith, lies, lust, passion, ambition are some of the emotions that were portrayed by the protagonists. It’s a story of a bunch of 9 people, each trying to adjust themselves with the fast paced life of a Metro.
If you want to know the story, then check the movie trailer(below). Give your grey cells some stress and you shall get a basic idea of the movie.
Bollywood has tried it’s hand at movies with multiple paths all converging to form a single story in the end. I guess it started with Dil Vil Pyaar Vyaar ( a big flop), but as time progressed the film-makers became more intelligent in weaving many plots into one. Among all such movies I have watched, Naseer’s film Yun Hota To Kya Hota has been my favorite. But after watching Life In A Metro, Yun Hota… has been displaced to the second spot.
Life In A Metro by Anurag Basu ( of Murder and Gangster fame) is one of the better films of 2007. Both technically as well as script wise the movie is a good product. I always grumble, that unlike Hollywood films, where lot of pain goes into selecting the star cast, Bollywood film-makers barely spend time to get the star cast right. Any damn actor will do for them. But I must appreciate the makers of Metro for selecting a bunch of talented actors that fit their roles to the tee.
All the actors have done a fantastic job and credit must go to Anurag Basu for handling his team with such finesse. Each actor has been given ample scope to show his/her presence felt in the film. Basically all the actors are important and there is no single star. But if I were to list the actors and their performances by order of merit then it would go like :
Irrfan Khan : simply brilliant, marvelous. His best performance after Maqbool. Although his role is not too long, Irrfan just manages to mesmerize you with his acting. Irrfan’s character is a difficult one too have been played and Irrfan plays it with such adeptness, that not once does he go over board.
Konkona Sen Sharma : She does it everytime and in Metro she does it again. She simply bowls you down with her potrayal of a 30 year old virgin desperately in pursuit of a life a partner. Konkona’s strength is her sweet, innocent voice, you can never get bored of hearing her speak. The way she gets into the skin of her character is marvelous. You start relating with her from scene one itself.
Shilpa Shetty, Shiny Ahuja , Kay Kay : All three of them have done a great job. Shilpa shows tremendous potential. She looks beautiful and her performance adds to her beauty. Her best performance since Phir Milenge. Kay Kay and Shiney like always are dependable.
Sharman Joshi: Like always, Sharman is lovable. His comic timing is brilliant.
Kangana Raut: She is so cute!!!!!!!! She looks like a Barbie doll in the film. Just work on your diction Kangana and you might well be a star to reckon in the times to come.

P.S. : Thanks to a contest at Inox, I won A Metro music cd. Must say this added to the movie experience.

Amit’s Recco of The Week : Big Nothing
Big Nothing, a rather unusual title to have for a movie. But at the same time a rather catchy one too. Big Nothing falls in the genre of a comedy/thriller. And is one movie you shouldn’t miss.
Movie Runtime: 86 min.
The Story: Gus is a call center employee, Charlie is an ex-teacher out of job and Josie McBroom is a teen beauty pageant. All three join hands to black mail a Reverend. They make a full proof plan to extract money from the Reverend. But no plan is full -proof. Things get out of hand for the trio when the Reverend is murdered and they find out they are in for some real big trouble. I will not reveal much as it will only spoil the suspense.
Acting: David Schwimmer as the Charlie is brilliant. His recitations of statistical accounts based on the current situation is rather funny. Also Simon Pegg as Gus is fantastic. Alice Eve as Josie Mcbroom is rather sexy and brings out a naughty charm in her character. The chemistry between David and Simon is in fact the biggest strength of the film. Other actors do not have much of a role and are okay in whatever they have to perform.
The thrills of the movie and the sudden twists in the movie leave you captivated. And most of the times you are left surprised. The pace of the movie is rather quick and the constant humor that is blended in with the murder mystery leaves you smiling.

Bheja Fry Movie Review
Sagar Ballary’s directorial debut Bheja Fry releases in theatres this week. With a bunch of talented actors like Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak and Sarika to support, I was expecting to have a simple clean comedy akin to Khosla Ka Ghosla. So how does Bheja Fry fare? Did it live upto my expectations and make me laugh loud or did it end up frying my Bheja! Read on to know.
Bheja Fry Movie Story — The story is supposed to be adapted from a French film, which I have never seen nor heard of. So I cannot say to what extent the movie is copied. But whoever has written the story, must say it is a very novel , creative and a simple one. A bunch of rich businessman gather every Friday to have some uninhibited fun. And they have fun at the expense of an idiot. Yes IDIOT. Every Friday one of them has to get one idiot along with them to have dinner. And the idiot serves the purpose of providing fun to them and helps them relieve their stress. Rajat Kapoor fancies these Friday meets and this Friday he decides to get along with him Mr. Bharat Bhushan( Vinay Pathak) who springs out to sing everytime he gets an opportunity to do so. Infact you can say that he creates those opportunities. Sarika plays the role of Rajat Kapoor’s wife who hates Rajat’s attitude of having fun at other people’s expense.Bheja Fry basically describes the turn of humorous events that take place and how Vinay ends up frying Rajat’s Bheja on the rather unforgettable Friday night.

Hattrick Movie Review
Barring Lagaan and to some extent Iqbal, cricket movies or for that matter sports related Bollywood films barely do well at the box-office. This week, Hattrick releases at the Box Office and it attempts to catch onto the World Cup Fever. So howz the movie? Is Hattrick worth a watch? Read on to know….
Storyline – Describing the story of Hattrick is a tough task, as Hattrick doesn’t have a story to offer in the first place. Anyway, I shall make an attempt. The name Hattrick comes from the fact that there are three stories running parellely through the film. Oh Wow, how creative. It must have surely taken a whole lot of geniuses to conjure up the title. Anyway enough of sarcasm, lets get back to the story.
Story 1 —- Dr. Satyajeet Chavan (Nana Patekar) is a strict disciplinarian, no-nonsense doctor who simply hates cricket. While David Abraham (Danny Denzongpa) is a cricketer who breathes and lives cricket. When Danny gets admitted to the hospital, he tries to break all the rules of the hospital in order to catch onto the Cricket World Cup. But Nana acts as a barrier between him and the television set. Nana will not allow a television set on his hospital’s premises and Danny will not stop until he gets to watch the World Cup. Who wins the battle Nana or Danny? You need not be a genius to answer that question. Ya, that’s about with the first story of Hattrick. And trust me this is the best story that the movie has to offer. So you can imagine what the rest of the stories will be like.

Story 2 —- Hemu Patel (Paresh Rawal) is one of those Indians who has left his homeland with dreams of a good living in England. But he manages to get the job of a sweeper in England and is utterly frustrated with his life. Now after living 10 years in England, his only dream is to get a U.K. Citizenship, so that he can get a better job and then go home proudly. This story of an “Indian Abroad” and his problems has been seen time and again on the silver screen. And there is nothing new that Hattrick showcases.

Traffic Signal ……. Reviewed
Page 3 , Corporate and now Traffic Signal . Madhur Bhandarkar finally completes his trilogy . Madhur’s films are always different, filled with real characters and with glimpses through the life of a common man . Other than his dismal multi starrer “Aan…Men at Work“, Madhur has always been faithful to his audiences by churning out films that are worth a watch. So does Madhur get it right for the third time in a row? Is it a Hatrick or not ? Read on to know…
What’s it about—-Traffic Signal dawns over the day to day life of beggars, street vendors, crooks, robbers, con-men, prostitutes, etc. who make a living on the traffic signal . It’s a story that we observe in our daily life but we barely care to notice . Madhur Bhandarkar brings to our notice this thriving 180 crore industry and how it operates . From beggars , to builders , to busiineesman , to ministers, to the mafia all are involved directly or indirectly in the operation of this industry . We wait at the traffic signal grumbling when the red light will turn to green , while they wait excitedly for the light to turn red.As soon as the light shifts to green ,these people at the traffic signal start their operations . In Traffic Signal there is no one basic story as such,it’s a story of several characters and their day to day struggle . A sort of main story does appear during the finishing reels of the film so as to bring the movie to a culmination, but i wouldn’t like to reveal it here.
